Mill Pool

The Mill Pool is an oblong shaped water of approximately 228.6 mtrs (250 yards) in length by 73.15 mtrs (80 yards) in width and covers approximately 3.8 acres in area. The water has varying depths from 1.22 mtrs (4 feet) at the bank edge to 8.53 mtrs (28 feet) down the centre. All fishing is undertaken from the fishing pegs located on the near (car park side) and far bank sides of the water. There are 27 pegs in total on the Mill Pool, numbers 1 to 14 (peg 12 removed due to power lines) on the near bank and numbers 16 to 29 on the far bank. No fishing is allowed from the dam wall or between the hours of sunset and sunrise.

The Nearside Bank

Pegs 01 to 04 - Furthest away from the Car Park - Depths between 1.83 mtrs (6 feet) and 3.05 mtrs (10 feet) at 10 mtrs (32.75 feet) casting distance out.
Good summer pegs for all species.

Pegs 05 to 09 - Located in the Quarry - Depths between 3.05 mtrs (10 feet) and 3.66 mtrs (12 feet) at 10 mtrs (32.75 feet) casting distance out.
Feeder fishing will yield good results in deeper water. Fish close into the features during the summer for all species including carp and tench.

Pegs 10 to 14 - Nearest the Car Park - Depths between 3.05 mtrs (10 feet) and 3.66 mtrs (12 feet) at 10 mtrs (32.75 feet) casting distance out.
Fishing close in summer to the features or fishing the tip towards the dam wall will yield carp and tench.

Access To The Far Side Bank - The far bank pegs are located by crossing the dam wall via the swing gate near the Car Park.

Pegs 16 to 29 - Depths between 2.44 mtrs (8 feet) and 4.27 mtrs (14 feet) at 9 mtrs (29.5 feet) casting distance out.
These pegs have always been regarded as winter pegs due to their depth and fishing hard on the bottom with maggot, castor, hemp or pinkies is recommended. Summer tactics using 4mm and 6mm pellets over micro pellets, fishmeal groundbaits, maggots or castor on a 5 foot rig up in the water can be very effective. Feeder fishing on maggot, worm, corn or pellet can result in good bags of bream and skimmers.

Favoured Baits - Red maggot, castor, worm, pellet, bread, luncheon meat, sweetcorn, hemp and boilies. Bloodworm, jokers, live and dead baits are banned.
